Getting A Ceramic Coat For Your Vehicle? Know These 4 Things

Are you getting a ceramic coat applied to your vehicle in the near future? If so, you'll want to know the following things about a ceramic coat before you have it applied.

Always Hand Wash Your Vehicle

A ceramic coat does a great job at keeping your car clean and making it easier to clean. However, you shouldn't be taking it to a local car wash. The brushes that are used are actually very dirty, and are not cleaned between washes. This can cause your ceramic coating to become scratched and degrade the quality of the coating over time. That's why you are better off hand washing your vehicle to make sure that the ceramic coat is in good condition.

However, when hand washing your vehicle, you want to make sure that you hand dry your vehicle after washing. This is especially true if you have hard water. You can end up with water spots on your vehicle that then need to be removed, and your car won't look very clean. Just use a microfiber cloth to dry the vehicle and you won't have a problem.

Avoid Abrasive Cleaners

It's important that you avoid using any sort of abrasive cleaners when you have a ceramic coat on your vehicle. This includes things like paste wax, which can actually wear away at the ceramic coating. Stick to cleaners that are not going to be abrasive, since it shouldn't be difficult to clean a vehicle with a ceramic coating.

Know The Proper Washing Techniques

There is a right and wrong way to wash your vehicle with a ceramic coat. It is always a good idea to use a two-bucket wash method when hand washing your car. This is when you use one bucket for your soap and another bucket for rinsing, which helps keep the soap bucket cleaner and prevents you from putting dirt back on your car. Lubrication is key to ensuring that anything you use to wash your car will glide over the ceramic coat of your vehicle.

Use Boosters As Directed

There are different types of ceramic coats out there, and some of them require boosters. This is an additional protective coat that you will apply to the vehicle after a set period of time, and it helps extend the lifespan of the ceramic coat. If you need to apply a booster, make sure to create a reminder for yourself so that you actually remember to do it.
